A Private 4-Day Garden Route Experience

Recently, I had the opportunity to take a Swedish couple on a private 4-day journey along the Garden Route—one of the most scenic regions in South Africa.

This wasn’t a standard tour, but a fully customized experience designed around what my clients wanted to see and do.

Day 1: Into the Klein Karoo

We left early from Cape Town and made our way towards the Garden Route, stopping in Calitzdorp to explore some of the region’s unique wineries. Known for its fortified wines, this area offers something completely different to Stellenbosch or Franschhoek.

After a comfortable drive in the Audi A5, we arrived in Wilderness—a quiet coastal town and one of the hidden gems of the Garden Route.

Day 2: Knysna & Plettenberg Bay

The next day was all about the coastline.

We explored Knysna, walked around the waterfront, and stopped for drinks on Thesen Island. From there, we continued along the coast, stopping at viewpoints before heading to Plettenberg Bay.

While my clients enjoyed a beachfront lunch, I explored Robberg Nature Reserve, where the scenery was incredible and the coastline full of seals.

Day 3: Safari Experience

On the final full day, we switched things up with a private safari at Botlierskop.

Having our own vehicle and guide made it a much more personal experience. Seeing wildlife in this setting is always special, and this was definitely one of the highlights of the trip.

A Fully Customized Journey

What made this trip stand out was the flexibility.

From wine tasting in lesser-known regions to coastal drives and safari experiences, everything was tailored to the clients. Even the pace and accommodation were built around what they wanted.

This is something I also offer beyond my standard tours—multi-day, fully customized experiences for clients who want something more personal.
